Tideswell is an attractive village in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Affectionally known as Tidza by its residents, Tideswell has a fantastic range of shops, three cafés, three pubs (with three more a short walk away), a restaurant, pet food shop along with a secondhand bookshop, yarn shop and card shop – not bad for a village of just 1800 people. The village also boasts a magnificent church – St John’s Parish Church has the longest non-cathedral aisle in the country – it’s such an impressive building it’s been nicknamed the Cathedral of the Peak!
Tidza is surrounded on three side by stunningly beautiful National Nature Reserves and there are plenty of great walks of all lengths right from The Old Chapel’s front door – all you need to do is lace up the boots, and leave the car keys behind. For those preferring two wheels, Tideswell is a popular hub for cycling and there are lots of cycling routes heading off in all directions (there are some hills of course!).
If more gentle holidaying is your thing, once you have explored Tideswell’s delights, there are many other nearby attractions that you’ll enjoy. Buxton, Bakewell and Castleton are all within a twenty minute drive of the Old Chapel. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are closely too. You’ll not be short fo things to do when you’re based at The Old Chapel.
